Another great event at the Canada Summit Centre, with volunteers from the Town of Huntsville, The SportLab, the OPP, the Kiwanis Club of Huntsville Muskoka and the Rotary Club of North Muskoka.
So many children came out to have helmets and bicycles (and scooters) checked out.  They made their way through many obstacle courses where they learned about road safety, agility, speed control, etc.  So many smiling faces!  And a ton of excitement to get out and start the season safely on their wheels!!
Come join us for the last one before summer comes....
...then look for us again in the fall - Sept, Oct & Nov - we'll be back!

Kiwanis Collects Pop Tabs for Wheelchairs!

President Shirley, Director Helen and President-elect Kathy show off the containers of pop tabs that have been collected for the Robert Hampson Tabs for Kids Fund.  The tabs are taken to a metal recycling depot that pays for the aluminum by the pound.  The money is deposited into the Robert Hampson Fund at Easter Seals and wheelchairs and other adaptive equipment are purchased for children.

Thanks to those that came out tonight!  We had so much fun. Door prizes handed out to two lucky winners.  And someone had some awesome Boot Scootin’ footwear!

Save the date for the next one: June 20th at 7:00 p.m.

On May 11th Distinguished Lt. Gov. Martin Mann and Associate Secretary Rob Dalziel attended the members’ lunch meeting for the Kiwanis Club of Owen Sound. DLG Martin delivered an update on several regional issues and membership numbers. He also spoke about the upcoming Convention in Quebec City.

Once again Author Ted Barris captivated audiences with his discussion on the secret raid against the hydro-electric dams of Germany’s Ruhr River that took place almost 80 years ago to the day.  Ted educates us on the impact that Canadians had - often missed in many other recounts.  Always an exciting recount and we look forward to the next event!
Another opportunity for an inter club with the Kiwanis Club Of Barrie.  Thank you for having DLG Martin Mann and President-Elect Kathy Higgins attend your meeting today. A wonderful lunch and engaging presentation. It’s a good opportunity to meet fellow members.
This year's annual Kiwanis Sap Run for Kids was another huge success.  Despite the damp day, the kids still arrived ready to begin.  Some were wearing their "Super fast shoes", others had on their "speedy suit".  Whatever it took, they were determined to finish.  The SportLab lanyard with a bottle of Maple Syrup was a nice 'finishing medal' and the coupons for a free pancake breakfast filled their bellies post run.  We also had some terrific cheerleaders to accompany the ringing cowbells!  An exciting day for all of us!
